| Store & Forward is currently being used to assist in the delivery of Orthodontic care throughout the West of Scotland. The Scottish Tele-Orthodontic Project was established as a pilot to try out an alternative approach to the delivery of specialist orthodontic care in order to address a number of problems.
Due to a shortage of NHS orthodontists in Scotland, the waiting time for patients from referral by their dentists to being seen by an NHS orthodontist is approximately 1 year. The geography of the West of Scotland, which has many remote islands, presents a second problem, in that either patients have to travel long distances to get to the orthodontists or the orthodontists have to travel to remote sites to conduct clinics. |
Excelicare connects 7 remote dental clinics to 2 hospital based orthodontists. more details... |
