Running exclusively on the Microsoft Windows operating systems, Excelicare is based on the scalable and industry standard Microsoft SQL Server database to facilitate uniform data storage and an easy upgrade path.
Excelicare utilises Microsoft SQL Server 2000 as its database. It is preferable to install and operate MS SQL server on a separate computer configured as a MS Windows Server. This allows multiple client PCs to connect to the database via a Local Area Network (LAN), thereby permitting multiple users to access and share patient records.
In addition to the desktop deployment of Excelicare you can choose to deploy Excelicare as a web application. This utilises Microsoft IIS to present the web deployment Excelicare within Microsoft's Internet Explorer that is indistinguishable from the desktop deployment.
Excelicare can also be run on a stand-alone PC without access to a network or a Server. When Excelicare is run as a stand-alone PC, the Microsoft Database Engine (MSDE) is used as the database server. MSDE is free and can be installed along with Excelicare on the same PC.
